710???

This story is from a friend....

it goes,

Yesterday I was having some work done at the workshop. A woman came in and asked for a 'seven-hundred- ten'

We all looked at each other, and the mechanic asked, "What is a seven-hundred- ten?"

She replied, "You know, the little piece in the middle of the engine. I lost it and need a new one. It had always been there."

The mechanic gave the woman a piece of paper and a pen and asked her to draw what the piece looked like. She drew a circle and in the middle of it wrote 710 !!

He then took her over to another car which had the hood up and asked, "Is there a
710 on this car?"

She pointed and said, "Of course, it's right there."

Now go to the photo below to learn what a
710 is..........

BigjonThe EVANGELIST

Haha, I just did a test on facebook... Which five fold ministry do you belong to.

The result was...

EVANGELIST!!

I wonder if that is what I will do in the future

*in deep thought*

2 Timothy 4:5 (21KJV) But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill thy ministry. Revelation 20:4 (NLT) Then I saw thrones, and the people sitting on them had been given the authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony about Jesus and for proclaiming the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his statue, nor accepted his mark on their forehead or their hands. They all came to life again, and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years..

I watched this movie... it is pretty awesome. Haven't watched movies like this in a while.

This moive is about a mum who's child when missing. And when the police managed to find him, he wasn't the boy the mum knew. He was a different person.

The mum knew the boy was not her child. But yet, everyone around wasn't conviced. Finally the mum manages to prove that the boy isn't her son after a long struggle with the Police.

This is probably one of the best Angelina Jolie movies i've seen in a while. Definitely recommended.

I rate this: 8.5/ 10

Forgetful me!

Hhaha... guess what, I totally forgot about Leaders meeting tonight!

I got a sms from pstr foo asking me to join in the ZLs for a meeting tonight. I read the sms around 8.15pm (leaders meeting started at 8) and I replied: "Hi sry, just read your message. Was busy with work, I guess its too late to come now."

So then i took my own sweet time, went for my workout in the gym... went for dinner, and took my time to go home.

When I reached home, I called Zhiwei, asking him to help me out with street ministry worship this coming June. And he told me: "eh bigjon, I'm right now in leaders meeting." I was like getting slapped hard on the face! Haha.... totally forgot about leaders meeting tonight.

This the first time I forgot to come... hope there won't be any more.

Common sense in 2009

I came across pstr Kong Hee's blog, and here he gives some advice from Warren Buffet. He gave some common sense on our own approach on money.

He states:

“We begin this New Year with dampened enthusiasm and dented optimism. Our happiness is diluted and our peace is threatened by the financial illness that has infected our families, organizations and nations.

Everyone is desperate to find a remedy that will cure their financial illness and help them recover their financial health. They expect the financial experts to provide them with remedies, forgetting the fact that it is these experts who created this financial mess.

Every new year, I adopt a couple of old maxims as my beacons to guide my future. This self-prescribed therapy has ensured that with each passing year, I grow wiser and not older. This year, I invite you to tap into the financial wisdom of our elders along with me, and become financially wiser.

* Hard work: All hard work bring a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.

* Laziness: A sleeping lobster is carried away by the water current.

* Earnings: Never depend on a single source of income. [At least make your investments get you second earning.]

* Spending: If you buy things you don’t need, you’ll soon sell things you need.

* Savings: Don’t save what is left after spending; spend what is left after saving.

* Borrowings: The borrower becomes the lender’s slave.

* Accounting: It’s no use carrying an umbrella, if your shoes are leaking.

* Auditing: Beware of little expenses; a small leak can sink a large ship.

* Risk-taking: Never test the depth of the river with both feet. [Have an alternate plan ready.]

* Investment: Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

I’m certain that those who have already been practicing these principles remain financially healthy. I’m equally confident that those who resolve to start practicing these principles will quickly regain their financial health.”

There is truly no short-cut to success. We all need to remind ourselves of these back-to-basic principles of life, wisdom and common sense.

My testimony on sat

Last sat, I shared my journaling testimony to 1,500 people! And as you guessed, i was indeed nervous! Hmmm... I wonder if everyone gets stage fright some times ;)

Well here's my testimony:

Hi, my name is Jonathan, I’m a cell leader in XYZ, and today, I would like to share with you my testimony on Journaling. I first heard about journaling during our church’s 14 day fast and prayer in January 2005. I was very excited when I heard about it, and I remember journaling every morning, I was on FIRE! I was desperate to know God and experience a breakthrough from him! Flipping back to the pages of the old and dusty journal long kept in my cupboard, I noticed my hunger and the passion I had for God. Every page I could picture myself crying out like King David, not wanting God’s presence to leave me. Every page I could see myself crying to God for an opportunity to be able to share Gods love with someone that day. That period of the 14 days, I met God. And where did I meet him? Through the book of Matthew and… my journal.

4 years have passed, and right now, as we are also doing the book of Matthe, I compare my notes and I realized the verses I picked spoke to me at different times. God taught me a lot through Peter 4 years ago, but now, reading the same chapters and same verses, God has taught me more through the life of Mary Magdalene. Journaling speaks to different people at different times at different seasons. It is not boring at all!

Journaling will always be something I will never forget. As I live my life each day, if someone asks me about the biggest highlight of my Christian life, I will surely answer them that it was during our church 14 days fast and prayer and… also my journal. 4 years has passed, and reading through the experiences I had 50 months ago has made me realize how much I have grown spiritually (and also physically). Meeting God requires effort. It says in the book of James that if we draw near to God, He will draw near to us. So when I took the effort to start journaling, I encountered God and my life was never the same again! God doesn’t break his promises, so when you journal, expect God to come. He will be there!

And here are some of the pix (TQ Sarah Ong for taking the pix!)

=)
